I left out "backyard" as it may encourage younger forum members to try it (learn from my mistakes and train with professionals)
My pick was Freestyle on both accounts (although I have done all 3 in the past). Pro wrestling is too fake now (although I enjoy watching TNA when I can) but free style allowed me to mix Akido in with the traditional Folkstyle i was taught in High School and add in some suplexes from my backyard days (and pro training thanks to a friends dad who was a local pro). i wish that I could still do it but at my age your either a pro or a MMA fighter now. Wrestling in High School kept me toned to play better football. (Decades ago now.)
It also gave me the desire to participate in some martial arts studies too later on in life. The style was Grecco-Roman, but we did have some lift moves called "suplays". Not as aggressive as the suplexs seen today, but effective if one could accomplish such. I'd rather watch Saturday morning cartoons on TV than any "Professional Wrestling". -------------------- The only easy day was yesterday....

I voted Grecco and other.
I just enjoyed it in school it was great competition and fun. The other is Judo as it is one of the arts I teach. I do like freestyle and mixed martial art, such as UFC (Ultimate Fighting). I really don't care for the hype and fraud of Pro. It teaches nothing but arrogance IMO. There is so much more to gain in true team or martial sport. These are real competitions and many values can be taught and learned. btw blackspyder, I enjoyed some time in Aikido. A wonderful art. This post has been edited by boopme: Aug 18 2007, 09:32 PM |

I checked other, and that would be mud wrestling, and as for the contestants...
Seriously though, I prefer free style. And professional wrestling should be renamed modern interpretive dance for all of it's choreography. |

I prefer to participate and watch freestyle wrestling. Like blackspyder said, Pro wrestling looks fake these days. Although, we never had wrestling as a sport in high school here
