How will You Decide in 2008

I would like to share a letter I wrote to the candidate I choose to support, but I would like to start a open discussion, about how other American citizens, are making their choice and why. Look forward to sharing ideas and positions.

Good Day Senator John Edwards,

I am an Independent voter, writing to you in what is, in my opinion, a critical time in the history of our United States of America. As a concerned citizen, I have been paying closer attention this primary campaign season, listening to and considering the current field of Presidential candidates, from Congressman Dennis Kucinich the Democrat of Ohio - to - Congressman Duncan Hunter the Republican of California.

I realized over the weekend that I am falling into the same passive pattern with the slight difference ‘venting on the internet’, but, not being pro-active, adding my voice about which Presidential candidate best represents the voice I want projecting America’s Ideals, and Priorities, to the Nation and to the broader World.

To this end, I, and each eligible citizen is faced with making a decision through the act/use of one’s vote to choose who will lead us through this challenge of our time. I have concluded, I must, during this primary campaign season, act opposite of what citizens like myself; one who will usually vote in the general election, but, don’t participate in the primary process that chooses who will lead us, but, rather, choose from the Political Party choices that have been made for us.

Our Nation’s difficulties, are greater than one voice can overcome, we need men like:

v Commentator and Author – Patrick Buchanan, who adds his voice to alert the citizenry to the threat to our sovereignty, and why we should care.
v Republican Congressman – Dr. Ron Paul of Texas, who adds his voice to alert the citizenry to the threat of over reaching – use of America’s military power, the threat of collapse of the American dollar due to bad trade deals, and our national debt, and why we should care.
v Democratic Senator – Joseph Biden of Delaware, who adds his voice to alert the citizenry of the threat we face of being isolated in the International community, due to the erosion of our credibility as an honest broker, and why we should care.
v Democratic Senator – Barack Obama of Illinois, who is a man whom I don’t want to stop talking because he brings energy and a sense of hope that the American people need to help throw off the yoke of quiet despair that too many of our citizens feel.

The 2008 political campaign season offers the American people a diverse choice of Presidential candidates that exemplifies our heritage and represents our collective bloodline, if you will. This season we have the opportunity to be a part of history – ones vote can be cast to hire the first serious Woman President or the first Mixed-Race President or the first Hispanic President or the first Mormon President, in a land that for most American citizens is the only home we have ever known.

So, a question; Has our Nation reached a time in its history that the color of one’s skin is not a just reason or cause to follow a candidate, nor is just the content of one’s character enough, but, is the measure the choices one makes, to an end that may or could be described as the same goal: To protect America’s Future?


One is still left with the dilemma; which Presidential candidate offers a rationale, workable plan, and best speaks to one’s concerns about the future and one’s hopes for the generations to follow. It is my humble opinion, that the three greatest threats facing America today are fear, complacency, and debt.

For me, Senator John Edwards, you have demonstrated in the Presidential Campaign of 2004 and I find you even more prepared this campaign season to be the man with the backbone and strength to fight the entrenched self-interest that has so overwhelmed our government and our society.

I would appreciate assistance in learning how I can actively work to support your candidacy for President of the United States of America, in my local community, in the city of Saint Louis, Missouri. It is my hope that through your candidacy, you will take a lot of good people with you, from the City - wide houses - to the State - wide houses – to the Federal houses. This is our time, our opportunity, to fire the do-non-thing-congress and hire new representatives, to give our Nation its opportunity to speak with a new voice for our Posterity.

I am a person, ‘a blade of grass’, with limited means, but, the contribution I make, I hope has the strength to be magnified 100 times.

Good Day I am a Novice

Well my daughter is always saying mom you should join a chat room or a book club get involved with people who share your interest. Well this is the first step in the past several days I have actually reached out I responded to a blog I viewed on another web site. Although, I often go to c-span, cnn, pbs, and other web or blog sights I only view and maybe fuss to myself or my daughter but I never follow with a note of my own until now.

I am 51 years old, a divorced woman with 2 adult children and one soon to be six year old grandson. I have a job not a career. I love to read non-fiction usualy bio's of people who interest me, US history. I have become a hidden object game addict. I love to talk about politics and have been following both democratic and republican presidential campaigns. Right now if I could vote in both parties primaries I would vote for Senator Joseph Biden of Delware (democrat), Congressman Dr. Ron Paul of Texas (republican). LOL So what do those choses tell you about my politics.

This is very exhiliarating I feel like a little kid with a new interest. So I don't know what to expect, but look forward to finding out.
